Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Finding the right home for someone you love is not a small decision. We will walk you through every step of it.

Most families reach us at the end of a long search.
By the time someone opens an admission page, they have usually already had the hard conversations — about safety, about aging parents, about what happens next, about whether anyone will ever care for their family member the way they have. We understand what it costs to arrive at this point, and we do not treat it as routine.
Renewed Living Homes is a licensed developmental disability residential program serving individuals across Virginia. Our admission process is built to answer one question honestly: is this the right home for this person?
Not whether we have an open bed. Whether this is right.
If the answer is yes, we move quickly. If the answer is no, we will say so plainly and help you figure out where to look instead. Either way, you will not be left guessing.
Who We Serve
Renewed Living Homes provides residential support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who need assistance with day-to-day care and are not able to live fully independently.
We may be the right fit for someone who:
-
Has a documented intellectual or developmental disability
-
Is 12 years of age or older
-
Needs support with daily living activities, personal care, medication management, or community participation
-
Would do well in a structured, family-oriented residential setting rather than a clinical one
-
Has a Virginia DD Waiver slot or another approved funding source
-
Can be safely and appropriately supported within the staffing and licensure of our homes
We are committed to serving people whose needs genuinely match what we do well. An honest assessment protects everyone — the individual most of all. Placing someone in a setting that cannot meet their needs helps no one, and we will not do it.

Six steps, start to finish. We will tell you where you are in the process at every point.
-
Reach out. A referral can come from a family member, a guardian, a Support Coordinator, a case manager, a hospital or facility discharge planner, or the individual themselves. There is no wrong way to start. Call us or send a message and expect a real conversation within one business day.
-
Initial screening. We will ask about the individual's support needs, current living situation, funding source, and what they and their family are hoping for. This is a conversation, not a test. Its only purpose is to determine quickly whether a full referral makes sense for everyone.
-
Referral packet and review. If it looks like a fit, we request the documentation that lets us understand the person completely. Our team reviews it carefully to determine whether we can meet their needs safely and well — not just today, but as needs change.
-
Visit the home. Meet the people. We invite the individual, their family, and their Support Coordinator to tour the actual home they would live in, meet the staff, and meet potential housemates. We encourage this step strongly and we will not rush it. No one should move into a home they have never seen.
-
Admission decision and transition planning. If we can meet the individual's needs, we issue an acceptance and begin planning with the Support Coordinator — coordinating the Individual Support Plan, funding authorization, medications, move-in date, and the practical details that make a transition go smoothly.
-
Move-in day. We plan the first day deliberately and at whatever pace the individual needs. Some people move in over a single weekend. Others transition across several weeks, beginning with day visits and overnights. We follow the person, not a schedule.
